New Kid Cudi WZRD
A new track from Kid Cudi’s WZRD project surfaced and makes us wonder what they’re all smoking over at G.O.O.D. music. We’re not bashing it in the least, the hop hop meets indie aesthetic is a long time in the making and this is a solid start, but the na-na-na hook toward the end of the track has induced a good deal of chin scratching around the office.
Hip Hop Muppets
An R-rated hip hop Muppet show starring Kanye West…? Seeing is believing:
Lil Wayne: Skateboarder
Some footage of Lil Wayne busting his ass on a skateboard hit the web recently. Apparently Wayne is traveling with his own personal skatepark between tour dates. Weezy looks like a kid in a candy store holding his skateboard with a big sh*t-eating grin on his face. Must see:
Rihanna and Coldplay
Coldplay is one of those bands that transcends traditional musical genres in favor of a big pop sound that incorporates traditional rock, electronic and big beats and guest appearances from some of the biggest names in the business. After Chris Martin’s memorable duet with Jay Z at the 2009 Grammys for the track Lost, Coldplay is calling in another heavy hitter for a guest spot on their forthcoming album Mylo Xyloto. One of the hottest artists on the market right now, Rihanna will pitch in guest vocals on a track. You can listen to Coldplay’s new sound in the song Paradise below. Sounds like Rihanna could fit right in.
Spike Lee Samples Jay Z for 9/11
Spike Lee directed a commercial for State Farm in memory of the firefighters who died on 9/11 and used an interesting cover of Jay Z and Alicia Keys Empire State of Mind as the soundtrack. Check it out below:
